No, this post is not about New Year’s Resolutions for 2017! Personally, I don’t believe in goals for the new year. They’re way too far out there and everyone forgets them anyway.
Now that that is out of the way: I hope everyone had a great Christmas! And since we’re heading towards New Year’s Eve, it’s great timing to think about the good things lying ahead in 2017. Usually I look forward to silly stuff like summer (duhh, that happens every year) or another year of school being done. But this year around, I really have some exciting events and experiences coming my way.
Getting that beach body
Admittedly, this one sounds like a NY-resolution. Starting January 2, I’ve got six months to improve my body, eating habits and overall health with my very own Personal Body Plan. With a personal coach, adjusted workouts and food schedule I’m trying to get a better lifestyle. Not that my current diet consists of Nutella, pizza and French fries, but I do think that with these six months of guidance I learn more about healthy living while still enjoying myself.
Attending fashion school
I told a bit about this subject in one of my outfit posts, but in February my honours program at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute starts. Attending my study course since 2014, this will be my first semester with fashion as the leading subject. And since I want to work as a fashion journalist, I can’t wait to learn more about the industry and how fashion publishing relates to society.
Hearing wedding bells
Not my own, for that I would need a partner first. But, I am having my first wedding this year. My cousin is getting married in July, but that’s not all. The wedding is in Hungary, a country I’ve never been before. And taking the oppurtunity to discover the country a bit, I planned a holiday to Budapest. So now I just have to find a flashy wedding outfit and I’m good to go. Too bad I have to wait another seven months…
Flash forward to September, starting my final year, I’ve got to intern for five months. I interned as a lifestyle editor at a daily newspaper last year and I loved it. Writing every day and getting that taste of the fashion industry was great. I met a lot of new people and I learned so much. I can’t wait to experience that again, and this time for a longer period.
Where to next?
This year I went on three city trips to Stuttgart, Berlin and London. I didn’t go on a long holiday for different reasons. Looking to 2017, I would love to plan some more mini-trips, but I do crave one big summer holiday. Just sunbathing, swimming in the ocean, drinking cocktails and have beach parties. It is something I really need after three years of no actual summer holiday.
Got any plans for next year? At least you’ve got time to figure it out 😉
