Christmas weekend is just one week away! ‘Tis the time full of family, friends, laughter, good food and even better presents. But what do you wear during these festive days?
At my family’s place, each day has its own theme with different demands of dressing. So I divided those themes in three outfit overviews that you could pull some inspiration from.
During the 24th, everyone is doing their usual things but with a Christmas-y vibe. Mom and dad are shopping some last-minute groceries, while my siblings and I watch a movie or tune in old Christmas episodes from various TV series. And at dinner, it’s just the five of us enjoying dinner and opening presents under the tree. So for a day like that, I always want to look a bit dressed, but mainly comfortable. Knitted jumpers and wool bottoms keep you pleasantly warm and with printed socks you can easily take off your kicks and show some fun.
Christmas Day is obviously the most festive. Grandparents, uncle and aunts, cousins, everyone rush in wearing their finest look to have one big family dinner. So you require some quality items that are also functional. Because, well, you still want to be able to eat in a normal manner without feeling constricted by your outfit. So no ties in my case. Also you could leave your jacket while eating (even though they’re called dinner jackets). I do love a good pair of leather shoes in combination with printed trousers, to add some jolly elegance to your ensemble.
After a well-deserved morning of staying in bed late and having a little Christmas breakfast, we do a little outing. Which usually is outside, so good shoes to walk on and thick materials to keep you warm are essential. When walking a lot, moving around and being out all day, I usually don’t feel like wearing a coat. Warm jackets with a wool pullover underneath work better for me. Adding to that, I’d rather choose jeans over chinos or trousers when I’m out and about and being active.
So considering that Christmas is in one week, you still have seven days of intense shopping for the right festive looks for your Christmas plans. Good luck with it!
