In 2012, he graduated at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute with a platform called Mode Amsterdam (MOAM). This hypothetical graduation was eventually realised by Martijn himself and turned out to be the business he is now the CEO of. MOAM’s goal is to create a stage for young talented professionals to make it in the creative industry. Big names like Viktor & Rolf and Jan Taminiau coach these talents to reach the upmost level of their potential. Handpicked by Nekoui and his partners, designers create collections in collaboration with i.e. the Rijksmuseum or Dutch retailer HEMA.
Surrounded by so many creative minds, and being one himself, it is almost inevitable that Martijn’s personal style is on point. His choice of clothing is a good example of the Scandinavian way of dressing. This means a wardrobe with quality fabrics, clean silhouettes and mainly temperate colours.
Nekoui in Navy
Navy is one of the main ‘Scandinavian style’ colours and Martijn wears it well! I especially love the overall. Throw in a pair of classic white trainers and you have yourself a simple, but powerful day-to-day look.
Black & White
Martijn can easily be called a sock-fetishist. With a big variety of statement socks, he brightens his monochrome looks with a pop of colour. But he also shows that black & white doesn’t have to be boring. Bold prints and geometric designs go great with a more sober look.
Pull me over
As it befits a CEO, Martijn Nekoui works his butt off. Luckily, he doesn’t necessarily has to dress like a typical executive during work hours. A job where you can wear a comfy pull or jumper sounds like a great one to me.
The coat is everything
According to Martijn, all outerwear you need is a good overcoat and a thick wrap scarf to pair it with. Because whether you love classic or choice more daring items (loving that giraffe print by the way), when you know it suits you, stick to your own style and own that!
I couldn’t agree more.
